I just want to draw a Line and put a Signal in my Drawing using VistaFX . .

Not so fast!  “Lines” as we use to know them have changed, or at least their properties and the control we have over their styles have!  J

Shown here is the LINE, POLY and ARC TOOL button found on the top toolbar, and the Line “properties” found at screen bottom.  Note all that can be drawn in a line on the diagram.  Single lines, double lines, Jersey barriers, cones, railroad tracks, fences, guardrails, bullet trajectories and the exclusive, ready for Animation from your reconstruction analysis, tire marks that can be added to your 3D scene analysis (based on time and velocity)!

Shown here are the basic “line” styles, as viewed in simple 2-dimension, that can be added to a diagram you are creating from ‘scratch’, or supplemented to an to-scale scene diagram created by an electronic theodolite.

Viewed here are the same “line” styles, seen in 3D (Animation ready), illustrating their appearance.  Note at the bottom where height of objects (h) can be modified, i.e. fence, guard rail, jersey barrier, wall, traffic cones & barrels.  This seems to dispel the notion that height-concerns for this sort of feature haven’t been addressed.

Notice here, some of the solid objects that can be spread out, via a straight or curving line “type” under nighttime conditions (in 3D) can appear to actually light up (illuminated) as you would expect them too from headlights or other lighting conditions-

There are two types or styles of traffic signals available, separated here with a dashed red line.   All symbols are 3D & animation ready.  The symbols to the left side of the red line can be color-selection controlled by the User based on state/local signal timing orders.  The light symbols to the right of the red dashed line are “static” 2D/3D symbols for your diagram.  What about controlling heights above the ground level … that is addressed next.

Here is how these same signal and signal poles appear in 3D-

As mentioned, the pole symbols seen to the right of the dashed red line are ‘static’ and can’t be Color-timing controlled, however, the height and color of the pole symbol itself can be modified, as seen here.  Once the pole is Left-clicked, the bottom ‘properties’ dialog appears and the changes can be made.

When you L-click on the pole that appears left of the dashed center line, a different ‘properties’ dialog box appears.  That is so the pole color itself can be modified, height above the ground can be corrected, and timings (based on sound reconstruction efforts) can be manipulated to the changing light sequence as known.  This is an exclusive feature of VistaFX.

Wanting to include a “line from scratch” or supplement an existing line is very straight forward and easy to accomplish.  The placement of a ‘static’ shape (i.e. light pole or signal) too can be easily accomplished.  The ability to see them in full color 3D with possible, accurate signal light changing sequences is the frosting on the cake!

Enjoy ….
