VistaFX steps for Measuring Evidence off a Vertical wall/object
Camera used here was a Sony Cybershot 5.0 mega pixel, DSC-T1 (at homicide scene)

Assumption:  Hand measurements were made between two (2) visible points on the Structure itself.

For this illustrated example, a distance of 3 feet was hand measured using a steel tape, for the width of the door just above the lock and door knob.

1-       Have digital pics in a familiar file location on your PC

2-       Open VistaFX

3-       Pick IMAGE TOOL button off  Top toolbar

4-       Pick SCALED image button found on Bottom ‘properties’ dialog box

5-       Left-click on screen

6-       Find and select picture

7-       Move SCALER grips to between pre-measured locations

8-       Change the “L-“ value to reflect distance determined w/tape measurer (3 ft.), then press ENTER.

9-       Press the DIMENSION TOOL button off Top toolbar.

Finally, now you may determine any measurements off this vertical wall!  Widths, and heights above the ground, etc. are permissible.  Perspective measurements however, are not as shown here.  From the nearby fence to the front of this storage building was not 1.1 feet but rather, 41.2 feet!
